Representing survivors of domestic violence

Domestic abuse takes many forms from extreme physical violence to abusive, threatening and controlling behaviour. There are a number of support agencies that we can put you in touch with and we can help by representing you in court and applying for a non-molestation order. This order prevents your abusive ex-partner from using or threatening violence against you, harassing, pestering or intimidating you or from coming within a certain distance of your property.

It may also be possible to apply for an occupation order which is a court order removing your ex-partner from the property you lived in together, regulating their occupation within that property or preventing them from re-entering the property if they have already left. An occupation order can also result in you being allowed back in to a property your ex-partner has not permitted you to occupy. Breach of a non-molestation order is a criminal offence and is usually a very effective way of protecting a domestic abuse survivor from further violence or abusive behaviour.
