Civil Disputes

Family

Divorce

If your marriage has broken down and there is no going back, we can help you dissolve your marriage as swiftly as possible without having to go to court.

Property Disputes

These disputes arise within the married or the unmarried family. The property in dispute could be in the joint names of you and your former partner, your sole name or your former partner’s sole name. We can advise you on the strength of your claim in respect of the property and any other relevant financial issues. We can also advise you about transferring a tenancy in respect of a rented property.

Disputes over Children

We can advise and assist with regard to Parental Responsibility, Residence Orders, contact, specific issue orders, prohibited steps orders. We can also advise you with regard to obtaining financial support for your child(ren). We can advise you even where the child is not your natural child, ie a step child or other close relationship. We can advise you if you wish to take your child aboard or on holiday. In all circumstances and with your help, we will try and negotiate a resolution before referring the matter to the court.

Civil partnership

We can advise you in respect of civil partnership dissolution and the very similar rights that same sex couples have as compared to married couples.

Judicial Separation

In certain circumstances a divorce may not be possible or it may not be the step that you wish to take. A judicial separation does not formally end your marriage like a divorce but it is possible for the court to resolve issues in respect of the finances and children within these proceedings.

Annulment

In certain circumstances you may have the right to annul your marriage. We can offer you further advice in respect of this.

Domestic Violence

If you are suffering domestic abuse at home we can help you go through the steps necessary to get protection from your abusive partner. The abuse does not necessarily have to be physical. Victims do not often realize that verbal/emotional abuse can be just as damaging as physical violence. We have vast experience in dealing with matters of this kind and we will offer you support you need through this traumatic process.

Co-habitation

If you wish to enter into an agreement with your partner on how the property will be dealt with should you ever separate in the future, we can assist you with this. We can also offer assistance in connection with pre and post nuptial settlements.
